Who We Are /

Clinical & Consumer advisory Council

WQPHN's Clinical Council and Consumer Advisory Council (Councils) provide strategic clinical advice to the Board, with an aim to ensure that decisions are person-centred, relevant to communities, and in line with consumer care expectations.

The Councils serve as a vital connection between WQPHN's strategic vision, Clinical Chapters and local communities.

Dr Rosie Geraghty stepped down from her position as Chair of the Clinical Council in 2022. We are appreciative of Rosie’s exceptional contributions during her tenure, and her dedication to the Clinical Council's mission is truly appreciated.

Following her departure, WQPHN took the opportunity to reflect on the Council’s format and have developed a governance framework tailored to the needs of our regional primary care service providers. We are excited to embrace this new framework and move forward with enthusiasm under the guidance of a new Chair to be announced in 2023-24.

John Palmer OAM continued to lead as Chair of the Consumer Advisory Council and a longstanding member of the Central West Clinical Chapter. He and fellow Consumer Advisory Council member, Margaret Wade, represented WQPHN at the 2022 Health Consumers Queensland Annual Forum, where they advocated for the health care needs of consumers in Western Queensland.

After a three year delay due to COVID-19, the Forum provided a platform for health care consumers and staff of health organisations to come together and exchange ideas and skills, showcasing the best health care consumer partnerships in Queensland while building collective knowledge and meaningful connections.

Our Strategies

Western Queensland Primary Health Network acknowledges Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Traditional Custodians on whose land we walk, work and live across Western Queensland.

We acknowledge the stories, traditions and living culture and their continuing connection to the land and waters of our catchment.

We pay respect to Elders past and present and commit to building respectful and inclusive partnerships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to improve health outcomes in our region.
