Who We Are

Western Queensland PHN is one of 31 Primary Health Networks (PHNs) established and funded by the Commonwealth Government to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of primary care services for patients, particularly those at risk of poor health outcomes.

A key role of WQPHN is to assess the health care needs of communities and commission health services to meet those needs, minimising gaps or duplication. This is achieved by supporting health services to connect with each other to improve people’s care and strengthen the primary health care system through three main roles including:

✔ Commissioning health services to meet the needs of people in their regions and address gaps in primary health care.

✔ Working closely with general practitioners (GPs) and other health professionals to build the capacity of the health workforce to deliver high-quality care.

✔ Integrating health services at the local level to create a better experience for people, encourage better use of health resources, and eliminate service duplication.

Our Strategies

Western Queensland Primary Health Network acknowledges Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Traditional Custodians on whose land we walk, work and live across Western Queensland.

We acknowledge the stories, traditions and living culture and their continuing connection to the land and waters of our catchment.

We pay respect to Elders past and present and commit to building respectful and inclusive partnerships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to improve health outcomes in our region.
